Stats show Hong Kong's undoubtable attractiveness to high income talents

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr. Eugene Sun, replied that as of January 27, 7,147 applications for Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) were received, of which 3,485 were from Category B applicants and 1,172 were from Category A. So far, 5,799 applications have been approved, including 470 for Category A, 2,983 for Category B and 2,346 for Category C. A total of 286 applications have been rejected. Of the 470 approved cases in Category A, 212 had annual income of HKD $3 million to $5 million in the previous year prior to application, 89 had annual income of $2.5 million to $3 million, 84 had annual income of $5 million to $10 million, and 85 had annual income of $10 million or more. In terms of age group, most of the approved applicants were aged 18 to 30, accounting for 45% of the total number of applicants, 3,224. There were 1,773 applicants aged 31 to 40, and the proportion was even more lopsided. It is worth mentioning that there were 10 applicants aged 61 or above, with 3 and 7 applicants in Categories A and B respectively. 42% of the applicants were female. Applicants are required to declare their own occupations, but there are many different types of occupations involved and the Immigration Department does not keep statistics on the classification of the relevant industries or occupations. Generally, the Immigration Department can complete the processing of applications within four weeks after receiving the required documents, and some simple cases can be approved on the same day. The processing time for individual cases depends on whether the applicants meet the relevant eligibility criteria, whether they have provided sufficient supporting documents and information, and the Immigration Department's staffing arrangements.
